Makati Life Medical Center has reasons to celebrate.
The joint venture hospital jointly developed by Life Nurture Inc. (LNI) and the City Government of Makati (CGM) received this year’s Healthcare Asia Awards, under the category of Public-Private Healthcare Partnership of the Year – Philippines.
The award was given last April 25, 2022 in a virtual awarding and interview facilitated by Simon Hyett, Contributing Editor of Healthcare Asia. Dr. Dennis Sta. Ana, who conceptualized the project, was interviewed together with Mayor Abby Binay.
This, indeed, is a recognition for its efforts to provide sustainable and inclusive healthcare solutions to Makati.
Makati Life Medical Center entailed the modernization of the Ospital ng Makati Building 2 (OsMak 2). The project comes as the country grapples with the biggest health crisis and worst economic catastrophe since World War II.
It aims to be an inclusive hospital that will provide the necessary level of treatment and care, including patients who cannot afford it, giving them a chance to attain a better quality of life.
This comes as the COVID-19 pandemic revealed cracks in the country’s fragile health care system, underscoring the need for more hospital beds.
Thus, proponents of the project envisioned a facility to be nationally known as a transformative healthcare collaboration between the local government and private sector, founded on the principle of sustainable delivery of innovative and inclusive healthcare solutions to the community.
Singapore-based Healthcare Asia, for its part, recognized these efforts and the overall resilience of the healthcare sector as it helped the world recover from massive disruptions brought by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Healthcare providers and companies have now made breakthroughs, as well, thanks to the innovative minds in the sector. Their products, initiatives, and COVID-19 management frameworks have allowed everyone to return to a safer environment, Healthcare Asia said.
“Moreover, they are now incorporating these breakthroughs in their day-to-day operations amidst its effectiveness in managing crises and providing quality health care to patients,” it added.
The project was first conceived by visionary LNI Owner and Founder, Dr. Sta. Ana, with LNI co-founders, Engr. William Scheirman and Dr. Randy Talamayan.
Concurrently, Dr. Sta. Ana holds Makati Life’s President and CEO position, while Engr. William Scheirman is the CFO.
