Philippine real estate companies recognized at awards night

Cebu Landmasters Inc. was named Best Developer of the Year for the second time since 2019.

The biggest names in the country’s real estate industry gathered yesterday at the Shangri-La The Fort as they were recognized at the 14th PropertyGuru Philippines Property Awards.

Winning the top awards were Landco Pacific Corporation as Best Lifestyle Boutique Developer, Best Luxury Developer, and Best Sustainable Residential Developer; Damosa Land Inc. as Best Boutique Developer for the second straight year, Taylormade Development Corporation as Best Townhouse Developer, Filinvest Land Inc. as Best Large Scale Housing Developer, PHirst Park Homes Inc. as Best Community Developer, Aboitiz Economic Estates as Best Sustainable Commercial Developer and Best Industrial Developer, and Aboitiz Economic Estates and Aboitiz Land as Best Developer Luzon.

The big winner of the night was Cebu Landmasters Inc., who was named as the country’s Best Developer, its second win since 2019. Cebu Landmasters Inc. was also named Best Housing Developer, Best Developer Mindanao (sixth year in a row), and Best Developer Visayas.

“We come here every year to celebrate not just our achievement but the industry’s achievement.” Cebu Landmasters president Jose Franco B. Soberano said after receiving the Best Developer award. “We’re going to set a good example. We hope to represent all of us in the best way possible.”

Also named as Real Estate Personality of the Year was Megaworld Corp. president and CEO Lourdes T. Gutierrez-Alonso, while Torre Lorenzo Director for Leisure and Business Development Monica Lorenzo was named Rising Star. Meanwhile, Araneta Group chairman and CEO Jorge Araneta was given the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Araneta City senior management consultant Rowell Recinto was on hand to receive the award and shared Jorge Araneta’s pioneering ideas.

“Mr. Araneta pioneered the integration of entertainment and retail and incorporated mass transit (even before MRT and LRT) into a mixed-use estate — two concepts that are now planning musts in all developments,” he shared. “Moreover, he had the foresight to introduce land uses in Cubao that would have been unthinkable before that time but now constitutes part of the identity of Araneta City.”

Other awards handed out during the awards night were Best Sales Gallery Interior Design, Best Sales Gallery Architectural Design, Best Beachfront Condotel Architectural Design, Best Retail Architectural Design, Special Recognition for National Housing Development, Best First Home Development, Best Premium First Home Development, Best Housing Development Mindanao, Best Housing Development Visayas, Best Lifestyle Housing Development, Best Affordable Housing Development Luzon, Best Completed Condo Development, and Best Nature Integrated Development.

Awards were also given for Best Affordable Condo Development Luzon, Best Condo Development Luzon, Best Mid End Condo Development Metro Davao, Best Mid End Condo Development Metro Cebu, Best Lifestyle Condo Development, Best High End Condo Development Metro Cebu, Best Investment Condo Development, Best Completed Mixed Use Development, Best Next Gen Hotel Development, Best Industrial Estate Development, Best Housing Development Philippines, and Best Condo Development Philippines.

The winners were picked by a judging panel composed of Cyndy Tan Jarabata of the TAJARA Leisure & Hospitality Group Inc., Carlo Cordaro of Atelier A, Jaime A. Cura, Ph.D. from The RGV Group of Companies, Jean Jacquelyn Nathania A. de Castro of ESCA Incorporated, Kathleen P. Obcemea of KPO Beyond Designs Co., Luis Enrique T. Mangosing of Metro Development Managers Inc., Michelle Barretto of Vitamin B Inc., Philip Mareschal of JLL Philippines, Richard Raymundo of Colliers Philippines, and Architect Gil Coscolluela of W.V. Coscolluela & Associates.

According to Cyndy Tan Jarabata, these year’s winners show “remarkable resilience”.

“The winners of the 14th PropertyGuru Philippines Property Awards represent

an industry showing remarkable resilience amid prevailing global uncertainties. Against a backdrop of mounting pressures, developers adapted and stayed committed to building for the Filipino people, finding innovative ways to deliver quality homes and commercial spaces,” she said.
