FRENCH hospitality group Accor has introduced its Mercure brand in the Philippines with the opening of the 550-room Mercure Mactan Cebu, formerly the Belmont Hotel Mactan.
“Introducing Mercure to the Philippines for the first time with the opening of Mercure Mactan Cebu marks a strategic expansion for the brand, as Cebu continues to emerge as a compelling gateway for travelers seeking culturally rich experiences,” Garth Simmons, chief operating officer for Accor’s premium, midscale and economy division in Asia, said in a statement on Friday.
The hotel is located within Megaworld Corp.’s The Mactan Newtown coastal township.
Accor said the property is about 15 minutes from the Mactan-Cebu International Airport and directly across from Mactan Expo, which it described as the province’s largest convention facility. Mactan Expo has a theater that can accommodate 3,000 people. The facility serves Cebu’s meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions (MICE) market.
Mercure Mactan Cebu offers standard, classic and privilege rooms ranging from 25 square meters (sq.m.) to 48 sq.m., as well as a presidential suite spanning 100 sq.m.
The hotel also has dining outlets, a fitness center, steam and sauna facilities, lounges and a meeting room that can accommodate 30 to 180 guests.
Guests have access to Mactan Newtown Beach, the Ceremony Garden for smaller events and the Glass Pavilion for larger gatherings and celebrations.
“As demand grows for experience-led travel, we are excited to expand our presence in the Philippines and create more opportunities for travelers to connect with emerging destinations across Asia,” Mr. Simmons said.
Accor has also announced other hotel projects as part of its expansion in the Philippines.
In August 2025, the hospitality group said it would bring back its Sofitel brand to the country through Sofitel Cebu City, which is scheduled to open by late 2026 or early 2027.
The announcement followed the closure of Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila in Pasay City in July 2024.
In November 2025, Accor announced a partnership with Megaworld to rebrand the Grand Westside Hotel in Parañaque City as Mövenpick Manila Bay Westside. The rebranded property is expected to open by late 2026.
Accor also recently partnered with Primeworld Land Holdings, Inc. to develop the 160-room ibis Manila Caloocan, with construction expected to begin this year.
