Construction firm DATEM on Thursday, July 27, announced it has completed P15 billion worth of projects in 2022 and expects to finish the four stations of the P64 billion LRT-1 Cavite Extension, for which it serves as a subcontractor, within 2023.
So far, the first phase of the LRT-1 Cavite Extension is 83 percent complete. Its target is to start commercial operations by the fourth quarter of 2024.
However, the railway”s project cost has ballooned by P2 to P3 billion after over four years of delay due to work stoppages during the pandemic and Right-of-Way (ROW) problems.
After being affected by economic challenges and impeded work due to the COVID-19 pandemic, DATEM is regaining momentum, says President Lesley Espiritu-Villanueva.
“Now more than ever, we are committed to building the nation and helping it recover from the pandemic, taking into consideration the economic challenges recently,” she stated.
Already, the construction firm has exceeded its 2021 portfolio of completed projects by P10 billion.
Last year’s projects include construction of high-rise building projects for commercial, residential, and corporate offices, as well as rehabilitation projects for wastewater and environmental preservation facilities.
Significantly, these are situated in highly urbanized locations in the metro.
“It is imperative for us to shape the Philippine skyline and recalibrate our efforts to bring modern infrastructure while complying with international industry standards,” according to the DATEM President.
While the pandemic dampened the tourism economy, DATEM completed three world-class hotels: Sheraton, Okura, and Hilton hotel and building in Newport City in Pasay City.
These will cater to business and leisure travelers in the business and entertainment districts in Metro South.
Also included in the list are the One Le Grand Tower and the substructure of Aurelia Residences in Bonifacio Global City in Taguig.
The One Le Grand Tower was Gold-certified in the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) system by the US Green Building Council.
Buildings with LEED certification have raised the standards for energy efficiency, water conservation, site and material selection, day lighting, and waste reduction.
DATEM likewise completed the University of Santo Tomas Senior High School building.
This houses 110 classrooms, 9 laboratories, 2 library floors, recreational areas, and parking levels that benefit more than 7,000 senior high school students and school staff.
Aside from institutional and residential projects, DATEM reconstructed a wastewater facility – the Robinsons Place Galleria Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) project.
The STP ensures the the waters of the Pasig River will no longer be a pollutant when returned to the waterways.
This 2023, DATEM is slated to finish the LEED Platinum version 4.1 certified, Makati Commerce Tower and Savya Financial Tower.
DATEM has been operating in the country for 40 years and is a Quadruple A contractor accredited by the Construction Industry Association of the Philippines (CIAP).
