Wanted: Boarders
That was the sign some of my province-based classmates looked for before they enrolled in a Manila university. I never stayed in a student dormitory but I have visited quite a few of my classmates’ quarters. With a few exceptions, most were cramped and worse, fire traps! Parents were scared stiff not only about the physical danger but also about social ills. Some school dormitories, which prioritized non-Manila residents, had better but limited facilities.
Student Condominiums
Nowadays, parents can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that their children live in a safe environment. Student-oriented condominiums sprouted in the University Belt in Sampaloc, Loyola Heights, and Taft Avenue. On Taft Avenue, Green 1 was built within the vicinity of De La Salle Taft. Farther south in Dasmariñas, Cavite is another La Salle campus specializing in medicine and other allied fields. Thus arose Green 2 to fill the housing needs of the students. Inside the campus is a university hospital. There are other schools such as Emilio Aguinaldo College that make up the so-called “university belt” in Cavite.
Green 2 Residences
Green 2 Residences in Dasmariñas, Cavite is a premier student development geared for the student market. Here, students/residents will thrive in an atmosphere of safety and convenience. Soon, a commercial strip will rise.
The Good Guys
Parents need not fret because their children will be at home with The Good Guys. Student lounges with strong WiFi will function as a study area. For the physical well being of the students, there is a fitness gym and a swimming pool. The swimming pool, for that matter, is Olympic-size at 50 meters which is good enough for serious swimmers and competitors. There is also an open lawn where students may play badminton, volleyball or any other outdoor sport. Other useful amenities are the Covered Porch and the Function Hall.
With 3,200 units in three towers in a 1.6-hectare property, Green Residences left 20 percent of its area for green spaces. The cramped dorms of the ’80s are a thing of the past. Students can now learn how to live independently and transform to adults in an atmosphere conducive to learning and fun.
At the helm of this student-oriented project is SM Development Corporation (SMDC), the largest and fastest-growing real estate developer in the Philippines. It was declared the “Best Developer in Metro Manila” by the DOT Property Philippine Awards in 2021. Among its awards are Best Condo Interior Design (Property Guru); Best Highend condo development in Southern Luzon (Property Guru); and commended as Best Lifestyle development.
Move in Now
The best is yet to come. SMDC has a Move in Now campaign wherein prospective buyers can not only enjoy a 10 percent discount upon reservation on select SMDC RFO developments nationwide but have the option to move right away with a five percent spot cash payment. So, what are you waiting for? Get ready to study. Get ready to live and learn.
