Lamudi’s new CEO Anurag Verma is a tech visionary with almost a decade of leadership experience. He vows to uphold the company’s commitment to innovation and to raise the bar in the proptech sector.
Lamudi, the leading real estate platform in the Philippines, recently elevated Anurag Verma as the new CEO, succeeding Kenneth Stern, who was the head of the firm for two years.
Prior to the appointment, Verma was the Director of Broker Classifieds and Partnerships at Lamudi, overseeing initiatives related to secondary real estate market space, which includes maintaining strong relationships with brokers and pertinent incumbents.
“We are at a very exciting stage with booming real estate activity and the world moving online steeply, the pandemic being the inflection point. Lamudi has a massive opportunity to be the market leader in the Philippines’ proptech space and we aim to continue creating more transparency and professionalism in the industry.
“It’s an honor to lead a company which has been truly impactful in the industry and has helped millions of people find their dream home,” Verma said.
He added, “We are proud of the culture we have built within the organization and the Great Place to Work® certification is a true reflection of it. The team has been very resilient through tough times and will continue to raise the bar in the proptech industry as we welcome this next chapter in Lamudi’s journey.”
He honored former CEO Kenneth Stern, thanking him for his people-driven leadership that drove Lamudi to new heights of success.
For his part, Stern expressed his confidence that Verma will hold fast to the core values Lamudi upholds and scale the company to new heights.
He added, “I worked with Anu for two years. I have seen first-hand that he’s well-equipped and ready to lead the company and bring it closer to its vision.”
Being an athlete, Stern handed over his Lamudi “jersey” to Verma in an internal company event symbolic of passing the baton, expressing confidence in the new CEO.
Expertise in the Tech Industry
Verma brings to Lamudi almost 10 years of leadership experience in the tech sector. The 30-year-old hails from New Delhi, India, and holds an engineering degree in computer science.
Before joining Lamudi, he served as the Country Head of Zomato, one of the world’s top foodtech companies, leading its Philippine operations. Prior to getting promoted to County Head, Verma led various commercial teams within the organization.
From 2014 to 2018, Verma assumed managerial and leadership roles in Practo, a prominent healthtech platform that allows patients to connect with doctors virtually and facilitates on-demand pharmacy delivery. Notably, this was years before the coronavirus pandemic, which prompted the boom of online medical consultations.
Lamudi Moving Forward
Welcoming a new chapter, Lamudi is excited to seize more opportunities under Verma’s leadership. Currently, the company is gearing up for its biggest event of the year, The Outlook 2022, which covers two grand in-person gatherings: Philippine Real Estate Conference and Philippine Real Estate Awards. The former will be held on August 31 at Shangri-La The Fort, Bonifacio Global City Taguig, while the latter will happen on September 27.
The conference will feature prominent personalities from different real estate companies discussing the most relevant issues in the property industry today. Meanwhile, the awards event will especially honor real estate players that have exhibited resilience and determination amid the pandemic.
“Lamudi will continue to hold events and programs celebrating and promoting the successes of the real estate industry. Our goal is to support our partner developers, brokers, and property seekers in every way possible. Additionally, we’ll introduce innovations that will take us a step closer to realizing a tech-first real estate sector,” Verma promised.
