More government housing projects rising in Mindanao

MANILA, Philippines — The government is providing more housing projects in Mindanao to ensure that Filipinos in the island get access to decent homes.

The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) recently broke ground on shelter projects in Cotabato provinces.

First is the Koronadal Cityville Resettlement Project in Barangay New Pangasinan in Koronadal City, South Cotabato, which is a joint undertaking with the National Housing Authority and the local government.

DHSUD also rolled out the M’lang Resettlement Project Phase 1. Both projects are expected to benefit informal settlers and government employees.

The housing agency likewise turned over certificates of entitlement and lot allocation for the 602nd Brigade Housing Project in Camp Robert Edward Lucero in Carmen, North Cotabato.

This is targeted for active and retired military personnel. Under the project, socialized housing units will be built on 182 lots next year.

Housing chief Eduardo del Rosario maintained that shelter is a right of every Filipino family.

DHSUD is mandated to capacitate Filipino families, especially the underprivileged, to have access to decent, safe, resilient and more affordable homes.

Del Rosario said there will be no substandard housing projects that will be constructed. “All our housing units done through our key shelter agencies are within the standard set forth by the government,” he said.
