MANILA, Philippines — The Cavite government received no bids for the Sangley Point International Airport (SPIA) project, leaving its future in limbo.

“We had to declare failure of bidding,” Anna Mercene Pulmones, OIC of Cavite’s provincial legal office, told The STAR.

Pulmones said the province’s PPP (Public-Private Partnership) selection committee would reconvene next month to decide on the future of the airport development.

The deadline for the submission of entries was extended by 30 days from Sept. 20 to Oct. 20.

Among the four companies that earlier bought the bid documents for the project were infrastructure conglomerate Metro Pacific Investments Corp., state-owned China Communications Construction Co. Ltd. (CCCC), Philippine Airport Ground Support Solutions Inc. and Mosveldtt Law Office.

CCCC and partner MacroAsia won the first bidding for the SPIA project in 2019 at it was the only group that submitted a bid.
