DPWH project makes Pangasinan town tourist-ready

A newly-constructed road to the tune of P44.87 million has just made a 1st class municipality in Pangasinan tourist-ready.

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Sec Mark A. Villar Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar announced in a statement Sunday, March 28 that a new road leading to Angalacan River Ecotourism Park has recently been completed.

He said the road is now providing better access to residents of Mangaldan town in Pangasinan.

“Despite the limitations brought by the pandemic, we are proud to announce that we have delivered the first phase of the concreting project aimed to attract more tourists in the ecotourism park and improve economic activity in the municipality,” said the Cabinet official.

In her report to Villar, DPWH Pangasinan Second District Engineer Edita Manuel said the 900-meter concrete road gives the residents of Barangays Embarcadero, Nibaliw, Tebag, and Salaan easier access to basic services.

The P44.87-million project also involves the construction of a 200-meter flood control structure that will protect both properties and crops during the wet season.

“We will proceed with the implementation of the second phase of the project to support the local government’s ecotourism project and boost economic activity in Mangaldan,” Villar assured residents.

Mangaldan has a population of over 100,000 people.
