Globe Telecom Inc. has installed 39 new cell towers in underserved areas across the country, claiming that these new towers in 23 provinces will “improve the call, SMS and data experience of more than 100,000 current Globe and future customers.”
Joel Agustin, Globe SVP for Program Delivery, said the new towers are in Agusan Del Norte, Bukidnon, Davao City, Davao Oriental, Maguindanao, Agusan del Sur, Coron, Puerto Princesa, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Marinduque, Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, and Quezon.
The towers were also deployed in Leyte, Bohol, Capiz, Cebu, Cebu City, Guimaras, Negros Occidental, Aurora, Cagayan, Isabela, and La Union.
“This is just the start because Globe recognizes the value of connectivity as the rest of the country continues to cope with the demands of the new normal,” Agustin said.
He noted that more installations are underway as Globe is targeting to build at least 2,000 new cell towers this year.
“Our aggressive network builds and investments in areas that matter to us, where our customers need the service they deserve, will continue in 2021. Our rollouts in previously underserved areas will set the stage for more builds as we reach out to more far-flung areas in the country,” Agustin added.
Globe is spending P70 billion in capital expenditures this year to further expand its network through the installation of new cell towers and the deployment of more fiber optic lines across the country.
The company said its “rigorous network improvements” over the past months has contributed largely to the total internet speed readings across the Philippines.
Data shows one of the biggest jumps in mobile internet speeds in the past few months, the company claimed.
According to Ookla, which tests and analyze internet speeds, Globe has been registering better consistency scores in 16 of 17 regions in the fourth quarter last year compared to the third quarter.
