With the coming end of 2020, we are optimistic that 2021 will be a more prosperous year for all of us
Prime business organizations in the Philippines are now one in wishing for a better 2021, as the current year posed challenges and uncertainties due to the coronavirus pandemic and recent weather disturbances that devastated most parts of the country.
In an interview made by the Daily Tribune, European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP) president Nabil Francis admitted that 2020 was indeed a challenging year for most Filipinos.
“A volcanic eruption, more than 20 tropical storms and typhoons, and the ongoing pandemic have made it a year in which resilience, collaboration and innovation have been put at the center,” Francis, who is also the president and chief executive officer of Republic Cement, said.
In an earlier interview, he noted that more than 87 percent of businesses under the umbrella of the ECCP suffered huge losses due to the enhanced community quarantine last March, but are starting to bounce back with the gradual reopening of country’s economy.
According to Francis, recent developments like the soon to be available coronavirus vaccine lifted the spirits of the ECCP members.
“With the coming end of 2020, we are optimistic that 2021 will be a more prosperous year for all of us, a year which will be remembered as the one that we were able to overcome the pandemic,” Francis told the Daily Tribune.
Rising amid the pandemic
On the other hand, officers and members of the Management Association of the Philippines (MAP) said they joined the Filipino people in celebrating the birth of Jesus, despite the challenges confronting the country.
According to MAP president Francis Lim, 2020 has been full of unprecedented challenges, “but has given us the opportunity to rise above ourselves and be of service to our less fortunate countrymen.”
“As we end the year, it is our fervent hope that the coming year will be much better for all of us, for our businesses, for our families and for our countrymen. Have a Prosperous New Year to one and all!” Lim said.
To recall, MAP earlier expressed optimism that businesses under the organization are confident that the roll-out of vaccines, especially if the acquisition and distribution are accelerated, it will certainly boost business confidence and hasten economic recovery of the country.
2020 has been full of unprecedented challenges, but has given us the opportunity to rise above ourselves and be of service to our less fortunate countrymen.
With the year 2021 in sight, these two business organizations are continuously supporting the government in its objective of relaxing restrictions in order for the economy to return to normalcy, which will allow local businesses to bounce under the so-called “new normal.”
