MANILA – Budget-hotel booking platform RedDoorz Philippines is looking at doubling its accommodation offerings from 220 to at least 400 next year, with focus on destinations that have looser restrictions, its country manager Miguel Capistrano III said Thursday.
“Our leader right now is Indonesia because they have the most number of hotels as RedDoorz partners, in fact they have more than a thousand in Indonesia alone. Looking at us now with more than 200 hotels, we plan to double because I believe the Philippines like Indonesia has a lot of hotels,” he told reporters.
“But given with what’s happening right now, even with the National Capital Region Plus bubble, we’re looking at destinations with looser restrictions, and practically hotels owners there are open to talk to us so that’s the direction for now,” he added, mentioning areas outside Metro Manila like Palawan, Baguio, Cebu, Bohol, and Davao.
In a virtual briefing, Capistrano added that RedDoorz Philippines is also working with different industry stakeholders while developing strategies to stay afloat and ride out the still ongoing pandemic. The hospitality startup has catered to clients undergoing isolation and quarantine, and even TV production teams looking to shoot under a bubble.
“We’re looking at these channels that need hotels for their teleserye for a month where everybody had to be in a bubble, things like those. We have to be creative so that’s always part of our strategy, we review quarterly based on the quarantine restrictions on how we can pivot and manage through,” Capistrano said.
It also refocused on assisting its partner hotels in securing accreditations and implementing a set of robust cleanliness, hygiene, and sanitation protocols through the HygienePass Certification Program.
As digitalization plays a vital role in an establishment’s daily operations, it also fronted its technology systems as an important operational tool to optimize pricing and drive revenue and occupancy based on demand.
At present, most of RedDoorz’s hotel partners are located in key city destinations like Metro Manila.
