The 8.5-kilometer elevated toll road project will feature a two-lane road — a main bridge and an eight-lane toll plaza.
The landmark P19-billion Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX) is halfway completed, the Spanish infrastructure conglomerate undertaking the project Acciona said late Wednesday.
Targeted to be finished in 2021, the 8.5-kilometer elevated toll road project will feature a two-lane road — a main bridge and an eight-lane toll plaza. It would likewise have several viaducts as well as a section of the highway on a 5.2-kilometer length embankment.
The expressway would connect mainland Cebu, from the Cebu South Coastal Road, to the Mactan Circumferential Road in Cordova.

“By connecting Cebu City to Mactan Island, the expressway will alleviate traffic congestion on the existing bridges and provide a faster connection between Cebu’s industrial zone, Mactan International Airport and Cordova’s new urban developments which will further boost the local economy,” Acciona country manager for the Philippines and Southeast Asia Ruben Camba said.
Cebu Cordova Link Expressway Corp, a subsidiary of Metro Pacific Tollways Corp, awarded the project to the Acciona-led Cebu Link Joint Venture in 2017 to design and construct the 650-meter cable-stayed bridge as the principal structure, with a span of 390 meters between tower pylons.
CLJV, First Balfour Inc., and DM Consunji Inc., are involved in the road project.
