AboitizPower names new CFO

MANILA, Philippines — Aboitiz Power Corp. is set to welcome Juan Alejandro Aboitiz as its new chief financial officer starting next month.

AboitizPower said Aboitiz would assume the role of senior vice president, chief financial officer, and corporate information officer in the company effective Nov. 1.

Aboitiz is currently AboitizPower’s senior vice president for commercial operations, and was the first vice president for energy trading and sales of the company from July 2017 to January 2022.

He served as a director of Union Bank from 2018 to 2022.

He also holds various directorships within the Aboitiz Group.

Aboitiz first joined the group in 2011 as a management trainee for the strategy and corporate finance department of Aboitiz Equity Ventures Inc.

Prior to joining the Aboitiz Group, he served as senior associate for transaction advisory services of SyCip Gorres Velayo and Co.

Aboitiz will be replacing Liza Luv Montelibano, AboitizPower’s current senior vice president, chief financial officer, and corporate officer.

Montelibano will be joining City Savings Bank.

City Savings is the thrift bank of the Aboitiz Group which is undergoing its so-called “Great Transformation” to become the country’s first techglomerate wherein it is committed to leveraging technology and a renewed entrepreneurial mindset to promote sustainable energy solutions and reduce its carbon footprint.

AboitizPower, for its part, is committed to build an additional 3,700 megawatts of renewable energy, growing its existing “cleanergy” capacity threefold for a 50:50 balance between renewable and thermal portfolios.
