Toym de Leon Imao, renowned artist, sculptor, and award-winning set designer of movie and theater productions has teamed up with Golden Home Realty Development Inc. for his latest work of art. ‘Tuloy Tuloy’ is a sculpture within Golden Home Realty’s Periveo development in Lipa, Batangas, standing tall to recall enduring values and inspire infinite hope. This infinity statue at the forefront of Periveo was unveiled last July 21st, to provide a warm and grand welcome to the public.
Tuloy-tuloy, a story of tradition and infinite hope
For some, the meaning of ‘tuloy-tuloy’ is simple and straightforward – to proceed. But for Filipino multi-media artist Toym de Leon Imao, this reduplication carries a more elaborate definition. They are the words of a time-honored tradition of passing one’s home to your successors; words muttered to enthusiastically welcome guests into one’s private space to say ‘come in, come in!’. And finally, these are the words that signify the forthcoming pièce de résistance of real estate developer Golden Home Realty’s development in Lipa, Batangas – Periveo.
A golden opportunity for a golden artist
As a visual storyteller, architectural designer, and public art sculptor, Toym de Leon Imao is no stranger to creating life-sized statues, public art installations, and award-winning set designs. So when Golden Home Realty reached out to the renowned artist, he bravely took on the job of crafting a stunning welcome sculpture within the premier master-planned community.
“I have previously worked with the owners when I designed some artistic features in their home and I was excited to go large-scale. I don’t just design for the owners now. I design for a whole community of dwellers with varying tastes and expectations,” Imao shares.
“We tapped [Imao] again so we could share his artistry and talents to future homeowners of our upcoming master-planned development,” the Golden Home Realty management adds.
Indeed, there is no doubt about this Filipino artist’s skills. The Tandang Sora National Shrine in Quezon City, Andres Bonifacio National Shrine in Maragondon, Cavite, and Dr. Jose P. Rizal statue in Carson City, California are among Imao’s best works. He won the Cinemalaya Award for Best Production Design for K’na the Dreamweaver, and the Gawad Buhay Award for Set Design for Tanghalang Pilipino’s Mabining Mandirigma: A Steampunk Musical. Most recently, Imao was part of a group of Filipino artists featured in the Philippine Pavilion of the Dubai World Expo 2020, which ran from October 2021 until March this year.
According to Golden Home Realty, Imao was shown a project brief and was given the freedom to create and design a sculpture that best represents their development.
From there, Imao drew inspiration from the Periveo logo, which he looked at as a representation of continuity or infinity. The stimulus of the idea of a family as the characters of the infinity statue came from the Golden belief of the developer that, “homes should enrich people’s lives”.
“[Imagine] a family, dancing on the loops of the infinity symbol, happy and carefree because they have found their forever home in a community where they can grow individually and together as a family,” Imao answers regarding his inspiration for the piece.
This magnificent ‘infinity statue’ is larger than life, eliciting the delights of owning one’s forever home. It represents a place where infinite memories can be made and infinite legacies can be left. It depicts people of various ages living joyfully in harmony. They embody the excitement that can be felt when one finds their forever home situated in a sustainable place and the connectedness to the environment as people living in a sustainable community.
Building a sustainable tomorrow
Golden Home Realty has made it its mission to make homeownership a rewarding experience by creating a greener, well-planned, and integrated lifestyle communities that enrich people’s lives since its establishment. Imao’s sculpture is but one way to enrich the entire experience.
According to Ivan Howard Guintu, Golden Home Realty President, “We wanted to build a sustainable community where residents can espouse a healthy lifestyle, and that fosters a sense of belongingness; a place where children can run around freely, creating wonderful memories within the safety of a gated village.”
The 42-hectare gated village will be complete with premium residential enclaves, an expansive leisure hub, and future retail and commercial features all surrounded by nature. Other than sustainability, Periveo hopes to craft a community of access, mobility, and charm — all for the good life.
