AppleOne Medical Group (AMG) has cemented state-of-the-art developments in the medical facility that has served a pivotal role in the Visayas’ healthcare system with the unveiling of new patient rooms at the Visayas Med Hospital Cebu and with a medical arts building in the works.
“With our strength and expertise in development and operations, and a keen foresight into the market, strengthened with our agile and dynamic approach to all our businesses, we are Swholly committed to strengthening the foundation of our healthcare industry with well-equipped and well-supported hospitals around the region,” AMG President and CEO Ray Manigsaca said.
Visayas Med has been revisiting and overhauling its services and specialties, including the technologies, facilities, and amenities, as well as the medical force that is behind the healthcare institution.
Spanning 21 square meters of floor area, the addition of 36 new patient rooms brings Visayas Med’s total inventory to 126 – complementing the overall renovations and constructions that commenced in the hospital.
Apart from expanding its space to serve more patients, Visayas Med’s improvements also scales up the standards of medical care in the Visayas with its expanded hemodialysis facility, newly renovated and two brand new operating theaters (OR) — all using up-to-date and state-of-the-art equipment.
Visayas Med’s Medical Arts Building is poised to be the region’s premier health and wellness facility with physician’s clinics and doctor’s offices, specialized diagnostics centers, medical laboratories, and commercial retail spaces, among others.
The rapid growth and improvements in this level 3 hospital that is located in the heart of Cebu City came less than two years since AMG forged a joint venture agreement with the United Church of Christ in the Philippines (UCCP) for the management of the Visayas Med Hospital Cebu in July of 2020—during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
For Chief Executive Officer Leopoldo “Jun” Amistoso Jr., the institution is a “work in progress” that is built on a strong foundation. Its 69 years of experience in healthcare services started when the hospital was first called the Metro Cebu Community Hospital, then its name was changed to Visayas Community Medical Center. Now known as the Visayas Med Hospital Cebu.
AMG is the healthcare arm of the Cebu-based AppleOne Properties Inc.(API), a trusted name in hotel operations, property development, and real estate sales. API’s progression to healthcare is a brainchild and vision of Manigsaca which counted on the company’s track record in property management and development to deliver the finest healthcare facilities in the region.
In addition to Visayas Med, AMG has also acquired United Shalom Hospital in Tacloban, a Level 1 hospital, and Brokenshire Hospital in Davao, a level-3 general hospital. These acquisitions solidified AMG’s commitment to the healthcare sector in the VisMin region.
Formerly Bethany Hospital, USH is the second hospital under AMG’s wing. It opened to the patients in the Leyte-Samar areas at the end of December 2021 and offered diagnostics and inpatient services while further expansion and facility enhancements are underway.
The 100-bed USH currently has two operating theaters, a delivery room, a level 2 accredited laboratory, dialysis, imaging (X-ray) facilities, a dedicated pharmacy, and 80 affiliated doctors to realize its healthcare vision.
AMG targets for USH to be accredited as a level 2 hospital with an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) capacity this year.
The 200-bed Brokenshire Hospital in Davao is the third hospital in AMG’s portfolio and the first one in Mindanao. The hospital prides itself on being one of the few institutions in the Philippines to be capacitated and specialize in In Vitro Fertilization (IVF). It is also the only one in Mindanao that offers Hybrid Endolap Surgery with Spyglass.
