MANILA, Philippines — PLDT Inc. will proceed with the redevelopment of its Makati properties, with the aim of transforming its old buildings in the city into a campus-style headquarters as the telco giant embarks on a new era of growth.
The redevelopment of the telco’s Makati properties has been on the plans of PLDT, but it was put on hold due to the pandemic.
In a recent briefing, PLDT chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan has indicated that the redevelopment will push through.
“We will convert these two old buildings here in Makati City into a greener, campus-style headquarters for the telco,” he said.
PLDT’s major properties include the Ramon Cojuangco Building located along Makati Ave. and the Makati General Office in Legazpi Village, which cover a combined area of 8,000-square meters.
“So that is an important step forward in terms of converting in its entirety the physical building headquarters of the telco group,” Pangilinan said.
Pangilinan earlier said he sees 2022 as the start of a new era for PLDT.
“To be the best requires a new mindset, a new way of working. Only a broad, strategic transformation will allow us to execute game-changing moves. Moves that will not only impact our financials, but also how the market perceives us. And that transformation, to becoming the best PLDT ever, starts now,” PLDT and Smart Communications Inc. president and CEO Alfredo Panlilio, for his part, said.
Meanwhile, Pangilinan said similar initiatives are being undertaken by other companies under the MVP Group in terms of their own buildings to conform to sustainability standards globally.
Metro Pacific Tollways South Management Corp.’s P800 million headquarters in Imus, Cavite was awarded last week with an LEED gold certification, the first Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. infrastructure which acquired LEED certification.
LEED certification ensures electricity cost savings, lower carbon emissions and healthier environments where people live, work, learn, play and worship.
