The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will allow the 24/7 road works for the ongoing EDSA rehab during the Holy Week holidays, chairman Romando Artes said Tuesday night.
This was after Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Vince Dizon said they were eyeing to implement continued road works during the holidays while most commuters are out of town.
In a text message to ABS-CBN News, Artes said 24/7 rehab works would be allowed from 10 p.m. of April 1, Wednesday, until 5 a.m. on April 6, Monday.
Artes added that the agency has yet to receive a formal request from the DPWH but said he has discussed the matter with Dizon.
He said necessary advisories would be issued soon.
Dizon earlier said the first phase of the EDSA rehab is almost 50 percent complete.
Currently, roadworks are allowed from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. to minimize traffic disruption.
