A peaceful heart, calm mind, and The Mountain House

The Mountain House is a vacation space initially built just for family. It sits on a close-to-one-hectare lot in Barangay Calawis, Antipolo City, Rizal. The owners, Dodgie and Marie Osabel, discovered the beauty of Calawis back when they were U.P. students doing immersion in the community of Dumagats in the area.

Dodgie Osabel designed The Mountain House like a huge version of the Filipino bahay kubo, made of mature bamboo and lumber trimmings with thatched anahaw palm leaves as roofing. Around the property is an interesting terrain of gentle slopes, rocky formations, a mountain stream, old trees and lush bamboo. The owners wanted a simple house with few amenities to encourage everyone to spend time to reflect, relax, and to create meaningful connections.

Just this month, the Osabel family opened The Mountain House for guests who might want to enjoy a piece of nature this summer. It’s a place for those looking for simple accommodations, plenty of quiet, and an environment that encourages creativity and discovery.

The Mountain House has a spacious and airy ground floor living area, five big bedrooms, a modest camping ground, and a large outdoor courtyard where guests can enjoy the cool Antipolo breeze.

If you wish to spend time with loved ones in a safe environment, The Mountain House will gladly welcome you. Refresh your spirit and reconnect with people close to your heart. To help make this happen, guests of The Mountain House are encouraged to “Disconnect to Connect”.

The Mountain House is an hour’s drive away from Ateneo de Manila University (Katipunan campus), and can be reached via the Cabading Road or Boso-boso. For more details and to find out more about The Mountain House’s COVID-19 restrictions, please get in touch with them via their Facebook page.
