Beginning Nov. 2, all toll road operators must have shifted to contactless payments, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) announced on Thursday.
The Toll Regulatory Board said concessionaires and operators should install electronic tags or other cashless systems, such as radio-frequency identification (RFID) or the automated fare collection system.
The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board, and Land Transportation Office will monitor compliance.
The order covers the South Luzon Expressway, Cavite Expressway, North Luzon Expressway, South Metro Manila Skyway, Southern Tagalog Arterial Road Tollway, and Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway. —MIGUEL R. CAMUS
